Looking Back on the 2022 811 5K Run/Walk

The 2022 811 5K Run/Walk turned what could’ve been a typical Saturday morning into an exciting event focused on spreading the word about safe digging. Gopher State One Call (GSOC) along with a variety of utility-focused sponsors, including CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy, brought the event to life on August 13, 2022 at Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis. This year, the 811 5K attracted around 100 participants — aged 10 to 70+ years old — from across the Twin Cities and the surrounding suburbs.

2022 811 5K Run/Walk

Join us for a safety day @ Bde Maka Ska on 8/13/22 at 8:11A.M. 

The 811 5K run/walk is a public awareness event that hopes to spread the word about safe digging and damage prevention awareness. A free kids run is scheduled after the race. Participants can also enjoy snacks, water, a variety of safety-themed games and kids medals. All net proceeds are donated to the Twin Cities Firefighters Operation Warm, a non-profit organization that provides new, warm winter coats for Minnesota children in need.

The 811 run is sponsored by Gopher State One Call (GSOC), Xcel Energy and Centerpoint Energy (CNP)

Learn From the Unexpected with Eric Kolcinski of Centerpoint Energy

That’s why we’ve introduced our Learn from the Unexpected series. These videos—featuring Minnesota damage prevention professionals just like you—will allow community members to share their stories so that we can all work smarter and safer, and help the industry grow.
